2004 Area Representative of the Year
Eric Smith, PA-C

Eric Smith, on the left, receives the Area Rep
of the Year Award from President Elect Jack Foard, on the right.
Eric Smith was selected as the first recipient of the Area Representative of the Year. Eric received his award at the
Annual Membership Meeting at the luncheon at the FAPA summer symposium in Marco Island.
This is a new award this year and the awardee is selected by the Board of Directors. Each Region Director selects
an Area Representative of the Year for their Region and then the Board selects one for the state wide award.
Eric is the Area Rep for Clearwater/St. Petersburg area in the West Central Region. He has done an
excellent job and attendance at local monthly meetings has increased from 7-8 PAs at a meeting to 35-40 PAs at each meeting.
He has assisted the Region Director in updating the manual of Area Rep responsibilities which will be of valuable
assistance to new area reps when they come onboard.
He has been instrumental in getting other PAs involved locally in Area Liaison positions to help in the region with
public relations, membership, legislation concerns, and the Physician/PA Team. This concept is one that President
elect Jack Foard hopes to implement state wide next year and Eric has been instrumental in developing the concept.
Eric has been very helpful to the Region Director and very responsive to requests for assistance, and has been really
successful in getting others to get involved as well. It is very apparent that he is a team player and a natural leader.
Eric is the FAPA Secretary elect and will do a great job on the Board this next year.
Congratulations Eric and "Thank You" from all of your colleagues for your personal commitment and effort to
get involved and get others motivated to get involved too. It proves one person can make a difference especially if
they can motivate others to get involved as well.
