Mike Funk receives his award from FAPA Treasurer Ben Walton at a local meeting in Palm Beach since he was not able to be at the Annual Membership Meeting to receive the award.

Mike is a 1996 graduate of the Nova Southeastern University PA Program and currently serves on the NSU faculty as instructor/director of physical diagnosis courses.

Mike serves on the NSU International Medicine Committee and has participated in medical outreach programs with DOCARE in bringing health care to underserved communities in Guatemala and Peru. He has also become a member of Pas in International Health and is currently working on establishing an expanded presence for PAs in the DOCARE outreach programs.

In his spare time Mike volunteers weekends at the Care Link Clinic in Jupiter, Fl., a free clinic for migrant workers and others who can’t afford private health services. In addition to his individual efforts he has established an informal clinical rotation for PA students to work alongside with him.

His other activities include public health outreach programs in Harlem and Belle Glade, Florida for which he is also organizing the participation of PA students.

Mike’s commitment to mission work is exemplified in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson…”If you leave the world a better place, whether a garden patch, a healthy child or a redeemed social condition, you have succeeded.”

Congratulations Mike and "Thank You" from all of your colleagues for your personal commitment and effort to make this a better place and exemplify one of the main missions of the PA profession.
