2004 BOB SCULLY PA OF THE YEAR
Christopher Carlisle, PA-C
On August 7, 2004 at the Annual Membership Meeting in Marco Island, Christopher Carlisle, PA-C of Vero Beach, Florida, was awarded the Bob Scully PA of the Year Award for 2004 by the FAPA Board of Directors. The award is sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and Mr. Michael Friedman from Novartis was on hand at the meeting to present Chris with this well deserved award. Christopher is a full time PA working in a private Dermatology practice in Vero Beach, Florida with Robert Loweinger, M.D. He is a member of AAPA, FAPA and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He is currently President of the recently founded Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants in addition to practicing full time with Dr. Loewinger. He and his wife are the proud parents of five children ages 10 to 3, the 3 year olds are triplets. He has been working in his current practice since April of 2000 where in addition to his clinical responsibilities he also serves as Office Manager and Privacy Officer. Christopher has been actively involved in his community since his arrival four years ago in various projects and ongoing activities. He serves on the PTA board, is a coach with youth soccer, and a Boy Scout troop leader. He is a longtime member of the Elks Club and has been elected to the post of Exalted Ruler. He has been active in FAPA as a local representative and in the past year has assumed a proactive role in addressing the Dermatology issue in Florida. With the support of his physician he has personally unified Florida Dermatology PAs into a cohesive group to address this attack on the PA profession . He has initiated multiple communications with legislative representatives both at the local and state level to educate our representatives regarding the facts of PA education, professional expertise and commitment to quality health care for the citizens of Florida. Mr. Carlisle is the newly elected East Central Regional Director for the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and will begin these duties in January 2005. Christopher’s commitment to his profession and his community can best be summarized in his own words … ”In the past two years I have been intensely involved in the legal and political wrangling revolving around Dermatology, PAs, supervision, and the effect that a couple of motivated but misdirected individuals can make not only on the political process but also on the health and welfare of the citizens of the entire state, and perhaps, the nation. I have seen the potential danger of sitting back and waiting for someone else to do the heavy lifting while I do nothing. I have also seen the impact that a few can make to turn the tide, sway political momentum and make a difference.” Congratulations and "Thank You" to Chris on a well deserved award. |
