East Central Region Update
Stephanie Weimann, PA-C
Region Director

10 April 2002

To All PA-C’s in the East Central Florida Area:

Greetings! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie Weimann. I was recently appointed as the East Central Region Director of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants. I was appointed since Mr. Ron Pace has moved to the role of President-Elect in the Academy leaving the ECR Director position vacant.

I wanted to let you know the plans for the upcoming year. Let’s get the whole East Central Region active! There are tentative plans for a CME conference in Mid-October this year and a PA day picnic set for October 6th somewhere in Central Brevard County open to ALL FAPA membership and non-FAPA PA-C’s interested in joining our dynamic organization. A CME cruise to the Tropics/Caribbean is in the works for next June! I also would like to get your feedback and get a generalized idea of how many members in the Brevard & Indian River County area are interested in dinner meetings for the next year.

First, plans are in the works for a big picnic open to all members, their families & potential members for PA Day, October 6th, 2002. Plans include games, BBQ, a blood drive & prize giveaways. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me at the above email or snail mail address. The October CME meeting is on hold until more pharmaceutical representatives can be found who are interested in sponsoring a speaker. At this time, no one rep has expressed any interest in sponsoring anything other than a door prize. All help in recruiting for this event is GREATLY appreciated. Send them my way!

Second, three of the FAPA Regional Directors are planning a CME cruise to somewhere in the tropics for around the second week in June 2003. Stay tuned to the FAPA web site for further details!

Third, a great deal of time is spent on trying to contact pharmaceutical representatives to schedule monthly dinner meetings throughout the EC area. In the Brevard & Indian River County areas, five meetings have been canceled before you were even notified due to new regulations and how the pharmaceutical companies are reorganizing the way they spend money.

The great news is starting April 23rd there are three meetings set up, one for each month for those of you in Brevard & Indian River counties. These meetings are open to FAPA members along with their supervising physician on a first come, first served basis. Meetings are open to the first 25 who respond. Non-FAPA PA’s who are interested in joining are also welcome to attend to find out what FAPA can do for you! If any of you have any pharmaceutical representatives interested in sponsoring a dinner, please forward them to me. I will be more than happy to help them get in touch with the right person. Any and all help in recruiting is greatly appreciated!

For those of you in the rest of the East Central Region area, the FAPA area representatives are doing very well with scheduling monthly meetings. If you are unaware of meetings in your area, please check out our website at www.fapaonline.org for the latest updates, times & places for dinner meetings in your area. If you have further questions, contact your area rep or me to get further information.

Speaking of FAPA Online, there is a plethora of information on upcoming events, newsworthy items, legislative updates, current jobs available postings, logo merchandise for sale, quick facts & quick links to frequently used sites and the latest information on what FAPA is doing for you! Ron Pace, our President-Elect is also our Web Master. He does a spectacular job on keeping the web site updated and looking great. If you haven’t been there in a while, stop in and browse through.

Hope this gives you all a little insight into what’s going on in your area. If you have any questions, suggestions or interested pharmaceutical representatives, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Regards,

Stephanie Weimann, PA-C
East Central Region Director
