FAPA Foundation Donation Form (PDF)

The FAPA Foundation (FAPAF) needs your financial support and needs it now, and it needs it on a regular continuing basis in the future. The Foundation is the charitable arm of our Academy. Charity begins at home as the saying goes and the Academy is YOUR professional home here in Florida. The Foundation supports student scholarships, humanitarian efforts, and donations to worthy organizations in the state – all done only as available funding allows. Insufficient funding means no scholarships, and no funding other efforts as well. It is that simple. The fund raisers we do at the conferences are just not sufficient to meet the Foundation’s needs. We have four PA programs here in Florida and it would be nice if we could give a substantial scholarship to a deserving student at each program, each year. The Foundation cannot afford to do that with current donation levels. The Foundation receives no money from the Academy and depends entirely on donations from you, the PAs in this state. The FAPAF Board of Trustees has many ideas of what they could do to be more effective in the state – but they do not have the money.

Last year after many years of cajoling from several folks in Florida active with the PA Foundation (PAF) of the AAPA, I began making a monthly donation to the PAF. This year I also began making a similar monthly donation to the FAPA Foundation. I do it by an automatic deduction from my checking account. That way it is done without any effort on my part and is painless. I did it because after almost thirty years in the profession I felt it was time to give something back in addition to the personal time I give in my commitment to the Academy. I feel it is important for each of us to make such an effort as responsible members of this honorable profession. I only wish that I had done this years ago.

Here is a link to a form that you may submit online that will allow you to make a monthly donation to the FAPA Foundation.

On the form you may indicate the month to start and stop the donation, and the amount you wish to donate. The FAPA office staff will keep these on file and each month will charge the donation to the indicated credit card, and will email you to let you know that the charge was placed on your card. Or if you do online banking you can easily set up a monthly check to be sent to the FAPA Foundation just like you would any other account.

For every ten PAs that donate $25 a month that would be $3,000 a year to help fund the Foundation efforts. And how much is $25 to you? That is the cost of just one inexpensive dinner a month or a couple of fast food lunches. Whoopee, no big deal. Honestly, for 99% of us in this state with the salaries we have that $25 a month is not asking too much. And with 3,000 PAs in this state we should have a substantial number, and I mean hundreds of you, assisting in this effort on a regular and continuing basis. You owe it to YOUR profession. Just try to imagine the impact the Foundation could have in the state if they had the money to promote their projects. What a boost it would be to the public relations effort, the respect and the reputation of our Academy and our profession with the public, the politicians, and other professional organizations. We could become a more major contender!

So please, give serious consideration to making a monthly tax deductible donation to the Foundation, and do it today, right now, this very minute! Don’t just sit there, read this and think, “Okay, twenty or thirty or more other people are going to read this and do it, so I don’t need to do it. The Foundation will get enough that way.” Because if even one of you thinks this way - who will be the one of many needed to step up to the plate and do the right thing?
