Online Membership Directory
Now Available!

The 2003 FAPA Budget eliminated the printed version of the Membership Directory as a cost savings measure. The Membership Directory is now available online. Many other professional organizations have done similar online programs. This is very cost effective. It saves administrative time costs in preparing the written directory, and of course the printing costs. It will be easier for the Headquarters Staff to maintain and update changes as well.

We have done everything we can to make this information available in a useful manner to the membership, and at the same time protect the privacy of our members. First, our website is as secure as a site can be in these times. Second, the Directory will be available to members only in the password protected Members Only section of the website. The database will be updated on a regular basis.

If anyone does not want to be listed in the Directory, they may contact the FAPA office to make such arrangement. This option is also addressed on the Membership Renewal Forms available online and from the FAPA office. And for those concerned about the privacy of such information, just remember that anyone can go to the state website and get your address and license information from the state and this is required to be there by current Florida statutes.

Here is what we have at present. Only current members are able to search the database. One can search by last name, city, county, region, or specialty. Entering a request in any of those search fields will give you the information you want, but it will only bring up five results at a time. The more fields one enters, the more narrow the search becomes. This method will make it nearly impossible for someone to download a large amount of data and no one will be able to obtain the entire data base to export it to an email or mail merge program.

How will this help you? If someone is looking for a PA working in Urology in Orlando you would just type in the fields for specialty, such as the specialty of Urology and for the city of Orlando. Up would pop the list of those PAs in those two catgegories, listing up to five at a time. And it will tell you how many records fit your search category. We think this will be very useful.

All the other information that was previously contained in the printed Membership Directory is already online in various areas, and always has been. Putting it all online just simplifies matters and saves FAPA money. The FAPA Board is slowly but surely dragging the membership into the 21st century, though it does appear many are coming kicking and screaming along the way.

This is just one more benefit of being a member of FAPA and we hope that you find this service very useful in the future.
