Nova Naples Students On Local TV Show
News Update From NSU Naples Campus
The students at Nova-Naples recognize the importance of promoting the physician assistant profession, increasing public awareness of PA’s, and educating the community about the scope of practice; therefore, they are actively engaged in various community events in efforts to do so. Director of External Affairs Walda Lora organized an opportunity for some of the students to appear on a local television show to publicize the profession. Walda Lora, Pamela Ledward and Mike Dale, along with the Academic Director Richard Vause, were part of the broadcast. The show titled “Your Community” is hosted by Henry Cancel and co-hosted by Jennifer Brooks. It essentially provides pertinent information to the public in regards to events, activities, programs, organizations, and businesses that have an impact on the community. As guests, they were asked questions like: What is a physician assistant? What is the history of the profession? What type of training is involved? And what does it mean to a patient to be seen by a PA instead of a medical doctor? The students were asked specifically about the challenges of matriculating into a PA program and the sacrifices a student is expected to make. The thirty minute show aired on Comcast channel 35 eight different times throughout the week.
