President, FAPA Thank you for visiting the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA) website. FAPA is a constituent organization of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Our website contains essential information and will answer most of your questions regarding PA practice in Florida. You will also find information on CME opportunities and many other areas of interest to Florida PAs. In 2007 and 2008, the FAPA website received high recognition from the American Academy of PAs. Please take some time and browse through our website to find a wealth of information that is useful to the practicing PA, PA student, or Pre-PA student. There are certain key elements of the website that are important for you to note while you are browsing. The events and happenings page will give you important information on most of the FAPA events and PA events in the state. The News Briefs will give you hot-off-the-press information regarding the PA profession in Florida including legislative issues. The CME course “PA Practice in Florida: What every physician assistant and supervising physician needs to know” written by our past president, Ron Pace is a “must read” for any Florida PA. Please take some time and visit the Academy Milestones page which will give you an idea of all the important issues that FAPA has fought over many years to protect you as a PA in Florida. It is important for you to create a “My FAPA” account which is free of charge. As of 2011, the FAPA website will only have certain sections that will be open to the public; the rest will be under “members only” section. I would like to invite you to Join the Florida Academy of PA’s and become a member of the only organization that represents PAs in Florida. The last several years has been monumental for PA practice in Florida and without the strong efforts of the Academy, this would not be possible. Please take a moment and visit our membership tab on the website, and JOIN. If you are interested in joining our leadership TEAM please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime. We are always looking for interested PAs to help us and that can be YOU! On behalf of the FAPA Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you all to the wonderful State of Florida and we hope that you find a “home” in the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants organization.
