2018 Milestones in the Academy’s History

The Department of Health/Board of Osteopathic Medicine have proposed rules to substantially reword Rule 64B15-14.005.   The new rule is intended to implement the legislative mandate set forth in the newly enacted Section 456.44, F.S., with regard to the standards for the prescribing of controlled substances for the treatment of acute pain by physicians and PAs. Comments are due by 11/29/18 and may be submitted using the first hypertext link provided above.

The Agency for Health Care Administration amended Rule 59A-3.272, its regulation relevant to health facility and agency licensing to clarify language, change a phrase to align with statute, and expand protection to additional licensed professionals considered for the governing board.  PAs were specifically added to the list of additional licensed professionals.  The new rule becomes effective  on 11/21/18.
