To All PAs:

Thank you for choosing this wonderful, rewarding profession with me.  This is my first message and it is sent to all PAs to introduce myself and my priorities for My Presidency (July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018).

I graduated from St. Johns University/Bayley Seton PA Program in New York.  I have worked in a variety of settings - both inpatient outpatient and private practice.  I am currently on faculty at the FSU PA Program and continue to practice clinically.  I say all this to let you know that I understand almost every issue we face in our profession and want to work with all of you to fulfill our mission statement:  Empower, Represent, and Advocate for Florida PAs.  And while achieving our mission, we must fully integrate PAs into every aspect of health care in Florida (our vision) to serve our patients.

Here are my personal priorities:

-          Leadership Development:  Develop PAs and PA students to lead in their clinical practices and communities.  This is achieved through completion of our Leadership Academy (LA) program, where we focus on FAPA’s history, accomplished milestones and structure. Read more about how to be part of our FAPA LA here and meet the inaugural class.

-          Mentoring and Coaching for Success: Mentor PAs and PA students through the FAPA LA.  PAs and PA students are mentored by past presidents, directors of health care organizations and PAs with expertise in owning their own businesses.

-          Community Engagement Through our Public Relations Committee and Cultural Diversity Committees:  Contact Florinda Fernandes and Stephanie Rivera-Smith, respectively, to get involved.

-          Accountability and Fiscal Responsibilities for our Leaders and Those Who Represent our Profession and Organization:  The Board of Directors and I are available to answer any questions members have about what we do and why we do it. Meet your Board of Directors representatives here.

And finally, the priorities of all FAPA Presidents: to build membership, increase donations to the only Political Action Committee (PAC) that advocates for Florida PAs, and lobby for PAs in ALL aspects of clinical practice!

Please contact me directly if you have any concerns, questions, clinical practice issues, leadership questions, or simply because you are a member and want to speak to your President.
