Advocacy & Legislative Affairs - Welcome Message

Welcome to the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants Legislative and Governmental Affairs web page.

Debi Gerbert, PA-C, Co-Chair

Ricardo E. Morales, PA-C, Co-Chair

The Florida Academy of Physician Assistants is the only organization that promotes and protects the PA profession in Florida. FAPA’s Legislative Executive Committee (LEC) volunteers work diligently year-long to ensure that PAs have a voice and a vote in Tallahassee.

The FAPA LEC is composed of current and past FAPA leaders that embody the history and future of PA practice and members of the FAPA Leadership Academy with an interest in legislative and government affairs.

The FAPA LEC engages with Corinne Mixon and her team at Rutledge-Ecenia every day. Corinne and her team have helped ensure FAPA’s legislative success for 22 years, working tirelessly to ensure physician assistants are included in all relevant legislation.

It is imperative that FAPA remains “at the table” with the Florida State Legislature to educate legislators on the PA profession and issues surrounding our practice. Grassroots lobbying is an integral part of LEC. You, The FAPA member, can make a difference in your district and our state.

To make an impact now, contact YOUR legislators today and educate them about the PA profession. Visit the Advocacy Resources page to get to know your legislator.
